Wellness Center

The Joslyn Wellness Center uses a holistic approach in offering a variety of workshops that focus on memory, aging, and healthy living through classes, exercise programs and counseling. Recognized as a Program of Excellence by the National Council on Aging/National Institute of Senior Centers in 2020, the Wellness Center engages mind, body and spirit for healthy living. The center provides opportunities for counseling in both English and Spanish in a confidential environment with trained therapists and social workers. The Joslyn Wellness Center offers classes and programs that cannot be found anyplace else in the Coachella Valley.

We now have a fitness center with the latest in fitness equipment for active seniors and older adults. The fitness center is free for members to use but does require a safety orientation.

Wellness Center Programs

A Matter of Balance

Fee: $5 per course

A Matter of Balance course can help you address any concerns that you have about falling. Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls. You will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home and exercise to increase strength and balance. You should attend if you are concerned about falls, are interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength, has fallen in the past or who has restricted activities because of falling concerns.

Adult Bereavement Group


Community bereavement support group open to anyone who has experienced the death of someone close. Support is offered free of charge in a non-religious, safe, and caring environment. Walk-ins welcome. To register or for more information, contact the facilitators:

Aging Mastery Program

Fee: $5.00 per course

The Aging Mastery Program encourages developing behaviors across many dimensions that will lead to improved health, stronger financial security, and overall well-being. Limited Seating. This is a five-session course that takes place over 5 consecutive Fridays and covers topics such as Exercise, Sleep, Financial Fitness, Advance Planning, Medication Management, Healthy Relationships, and more. Brain Boot Camp

Fee: $5.00 per course

This is a two-session Memory Training Program developed by Dr. Gary Small, Director of UCLA’s Longevity Center. This interactive educational program provides participants with lifestyle strategies and tools to keep their brains vital and healthy. Brain Boot Camp helps define the differences between normal aging memory losses and abnormal functioning. You will learn how the memory works, techniques that can be used to enhance your memory skills including remembering names, lists, etc., and how to create lifestyle changes that can improve your brain health and physical health. Grief Recovery Method

Fee: $5.00 per session

Grief can be a result of many factors including death, divorce or end of a relationship, loss of a career, loss of health, or many other reasons. This 7-week program, based on the Grief Recovery Method©, takes place in a small group setting and helps provide the tools to begin to move forward in your life and recover from grief. This course uses the Grief Recovery Handbook by John James and Russell Friedman, available on Amazon or through the Wellness Center. Problem Solving Strategies

Problem Solving Strategies helps to re-frame how you view a problem and assist in finding the answer within yourself. This personalized program, available for individuals, couples, or small groups helps you develop the skills needed to resolve issues in a more efficient way. Relationship Dialogue

Relationship Dialogue uses Imago therapy techniques designed to help heal conflict within relationships, Learn clear communication strategies to create healing and growth.
