National Hair Day is celebrated annually on October 1st. It is a unique holiday dedicated to appreciating the diversity of hair types, styles, and the vibrant haircare industry. First established in 2017 by the hair products and styling tools company NuMe, the day serves as a joyful reminder of how much our hair acts as a canvas for creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
The day honors not only our unique locks but also the wide array of cutting-edge styling tools, nourishing products, and the professional hairstylists and barbers who keep our manes magnificent. Throughout history, hair has been deeply intertwined with social status, cultural identity, and personal pride. On National Hair Day, people are encouraged to recognize this rich history, celebrate different textures, and show some extra appreciation for the wizards behind the salon chair.
Celebrating National Hair Day can take many fun and empowering forms. Many people use the occasion to pamper themselves with a deep conditioning treatment, experiment with a bold new color or cut, or share their favorite hair transformations on social media. It is the perfect opportunity to embrace your natural crowning glory and step out with extra confidence.
Every Monday is a good hair day at Nancy’s Salon de Joslyn! For more than 15 years, Nancy has generously volunteered her cosmetology talents to help Joslyn members look and feel their best. Her 40+ year career includes her former Face Facts salon in Sherman Oaks and positions at Bullock’s and Aida Gray in Beverly Hills, where she worked with well-known clients including Barbara Eden, Will Smith, and Susan Sarandon. Today, Joslyn members are Nancy’s celebrities, and she loves getting to know everyone who sits in her chair. Women and men are welcome to schedule haircuts, facials, deep pore cleansing, eyebrow shaping, and more on Mondays—and sometimes Tuesdays. Services are free, with a suggested minimum gratuity of $20 for facials and $10 for other services to help cover expenses. Current Joslyn members can call Nancy at 818-783-7990 to make an appointment.
