National Culinary Arts Month is celebrated every year in July to pay tribute to professional cooks and chefs across the U.S. This is because it is not an easy job to create delicious new dishes. Neither is it an easy task to present these dishes in creative ways. One mistake and you will have to start all over again! There are thousands of chefs in America that have been trained to cater to different palates. This National Culinary Arts Month, join culinary schools, restaurants, and kitchens as they honor some of the most talented chefs in the country.
Once a month, private “coaching chef" Maria DeRosa of Ladies of the Kitchen, joins us to lead a healthy cooking demonstration. Her emphasis is to combine simple health and spiritual practices into everyday eating and choices for a healthy lifestyle. Practices that feed the mind, body and soul and yet are easily prepared and budget friendly. She adds that, "in the process, we heal ourselves from the inside out."
Maria has been a professional chef since 1989 when she opened Picasso’s Cafe Bakery and Catering company in Irwindale. They catered 24/7 to Corporate businesses such as Edison, Miller Brewery and Kaiser Permanente and were known as the caterer for Rose Parade Floats for over seven years.
In addition to her previous books, "The Healing Whisk," winner of the International Impact Book Award, and "Seasons of Baking," Maria has a storybook cookbook that is set to launch in November of this year. If you sweet-talk her, you may be able to get her to autograph your copy!
If you love preparing healthy meals and cooking with a passion, please sign up for Maria's next cooking class here on Friday, July 11th. She will be demonstrating how to make a summer entree salad. What could be better to have at your next gathering!
