SKETCHES OF SPAIN
The 9th annual Wine and All That Jazz takes its inspiration from Miles Davis with Sketches of Spain. The theme embraces the wine, cuisine, music, and culture of Spain. In November 1959, Miles Davis' wife, Frances, insisted that he accompany her to a performance by flamenco dancer Roberto Iglesias. Inspired by the performance, Davis bought every flamenco album he could from the Colony Records shop in New York City. Working with arranger and composer Gil Evans on compositions largely derived from the Spanish folk tradition, Sketches of Spain was released in July 1960 to great acclaim as one of Davis’ most celebrated recordings.

SUGGESTED ATTIRE
Cocktail attire is traditional for evening fundraising events. If you would like to be more continental, ladies of Spain apparently dress mainly in the following cocktail attire vein: sleek tailoring, vibrant colors, and subtle Andalusian flair such as high-low hems, ruffles, or structured midi silhouettes. Eveningwear brands favor rich jewel tones, fine lace, and refined, figure-skimming silhouettes. Footwear and accessories include sleek strappy heels, minimalist metallic clutches, and statement drop earrings. A flamenco dancer’s traje de flamenca (flamenco dress) or your personal interpretation are also options.
For gentlemen of Iberia, cocktail attire leans toward sharp, tailored, and climate-aware. It typically requires a tailored two-piece suit in navy, charcoal, or refined mid-blue. Pair this with a crisp white or pastel dress shirt and a muted or colorful pocket square; ties are optional. A matador’s traje de luces (suit of lights), flamenco dancer attire or your personal interpretation are also options.
