NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY
Sunday, July 20, 2025
| | |
Thanks to President Reagan, we celebrate National Ice Cream Day every third Sunday in July, meaning July 20 this year. Reagan wanted to commemorate a treat enjoyed by over 90 percent of the US population. In 1984, he decreed a day for ice cream, and his proclamation actually glorified the dairy industry in America. In fact, Americans still lead the world when it comes to eating this frozen delight: 23 gallons a year to be precise. Reagan also proclaimed July as National Ice Cream month, describing ice cream as ‘‘a nutritious and wholesome food enjoyed by over ninety percent of the people in the United States.’’ Since then, the holiday has sparked worldwide cravings and is traditionally celebrated year after year. Standing in the frozen food aisle trying desperately to make a choice? Or brainstorming how to celebrate this fabulous day? Well, look no further. Inspiration has arrived.
Joslyn Center will be celebrating this chilly holiday a few days early. Come in on Tuesday, July 15th and see Christopher, from Bilhartz Desert Insurance Agency. They sponsor this event once a month during the summer. Christopher will be bringing by an assortment of ice cream bars, drumsticks, fruit bars and generally super yummy frozen deliciousness!

JULY VIRTUAL BOOK CLUB WITH BOB
Monday, July 14, 2:00pm
| | North Woods by Daniel Mason is a novel that follows the interconnected lives of humans and non-humans over centuries, centered around a single house in the woods of western Massachusetts. The story spans from the 1600s to the present, exploring themes of ephemerality, succession, and the enduring connection between people, place, and the natural world. The novel is structured as a series of loosely connected stories, each offering a unique perspective on the house and its surroundings. | | |
