Joslyn Center's Meals on Wheels program is in need of drivers to deliver meals, pick up Meals from the Neuro Vitality Center or to help wrap frozen meals for delivery. Routes are mapped out and require as little time as an hour or two once a week. Be a part of this vital program! Volunteers are needed for a vital literacy program to help children develop to their maximum capacity. Do you enjoy reading, are fluent in English, like children, willing to follow the teacher's directions, and willing to commit 2-3 hours per week during the school year?

Looking for Matter of Balance Volunteer Coaches - Chances are you know someone who has fallen or who is afraid of falling. A Matter of Balance is a proven program designed to help people manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity.
Coaches help participants become more confident about managing falls, help to identify ways to reduce falls, and lead exercises to help increase strength and balance.
What do you need to be a coach?
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- enthusiasm, dependability and a willingness to lead small groups of older adults
- ability to lead low to moderate level exercise.
Course is held twice a week for 4 weeks. Each session is 2 hours in length for a total time commitment of 16 hrs.
Riverside County Office on Aging is actively seeking volunteer Fit After 50 instructors for the Joslyn Center, two classes per week, Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 AM.
Fit After 50 is an exercise program designed to prevent falls with emphasis on improving strength, balance, and mobility. By using stretching, upper and lower body resistance, and core exercises, the Fit After 50 program has been proven to prolong independence, prevent and decrease the effects of chronic illness. The program has been in existence for over 10 years with classes throughout Riverside County.
Volunteer trainers receive focused training on issues facing older adults; functionality, balance, mobility and flexibility with sensitivity to joint replacement, arthritis, and balance limitations.
The Riverside County Office on Aging Fit After 50 Program will train and certify the volunteers/staff instructor(s). The trainee is provided with a DVD of the class, materials, necessary equipment to conduct the classes and ongoing support.

Joslyn Center members have a lifetime of talents to give to our community. They are valuable, vibrant and active citizens. Center members give back to our community in countless hours of volunteerism, making it a better place to live. Volunteers are the very heart and soul of the senior community!
Over 100 Joslyn Center members are active volunteers! Some volunteers have regularly schedule volunteer shifts, such as our Front Desk volunteers. Others help out with our health fairs, dances, theater, Meals on Wheels and Penny’s Pantry support, community outreach and more. We have a vast number of volunteer opportunities available at The Joslyn Center for our members to choose from depending on their interests, talents and skills.
