Matter of Balance - An 4-week structured group intervention that emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels.  Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance.  


Matinee Movie Wednesday!  1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.  Free Admission, Free Popcorn, and Free Beverage!  Check the activity calendar for movie of the week title and description.  Bring a friend or two and enjoy the cool air, enjoyable treats and fun times at the Arthur Newman Theatre. Nothing transforms the aging experience like feeling young and fit, both mentally and physically. Open to all seniors in the community at no or low cost, we offer fun classes that engage, educate and increase awareness.

AARP - Tax Season  February - April 15th.  Tax Season will soon be upon us and luckily, so will the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program!  Tax-Aide offers free, individualized tax preparation for low to moderate income taxpayers - especially those 50 and older.  All tax counselors are volunteers that are trained by the IRS to provide free tax preparation services.  You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service. 

Appointments are required and fill up fast.  You will need to bring to your appointment the following items: 

AARP will only do Federal 1040 (simple form) and State of CA tax return, and they will be e-filed only.  Call the front desk starting end of November to make your appointment for Thursday and Friday appointments in February 2018.  

Adult Bereavement Group - Community bereavement support groups open to all persons who have experienced the death of someone close.  All of our support is offered free of charge in a non-religious, safe and caring environment.  First time group attendees, please call Family Hospice Care at 760-674-3344 to register with Bereavement Services. 

Alzheimer's Association of the Coachella Valley Support Group - The Alzheimer's Association of the Coachella Valley, serving our desert community for nearly 20 years, provides support groups for caregivers facilitated by trained volunteers and staff members.  Attendees share support, information and referral in a private and confidential setting.  The group meets weekly for 2 hrs from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  For more information call 760-996-0006

Alzheimer's Coachella Valley Support Program - Provide people with Alzheimer's, their caregivers and other affected by the disease the opportunity to exchange information as well as develop the opportunity to exchange information as well as develop methods and skills to solve problems.  Participants are also able to develop mutual support and social relationships while learning about available resources.  RSVP today by calling Alzheimer's Coachella Valley at 760-774-0411 for more information or call the front desk at 760-340-3220 to get on the list!

APPLE Computer Classes - Apple Ipad, Iphone and computer classes now forming for November and January.  Class size is limited and must call to pre-register.  Please call for times and fees.  Computer classes taught by Cassandra Beegle, iTTConsulting 760-537-1728.  

CARE PATHWAYS - New program starting January 2018.  This series of 12 workshops will cover subjects such as: Living with Dementia, Preventing Caregiver Burnout, Managing Medication and more.  The workshops are conducted in a supportive setting with facilitators who understand the challenges that caregivers face, and who can provide  powerful tools to assist caregivers to manage their tasks with confidence, increase their self-care and thrive.

Creative Painting Class - Learn how to paint with either acrylic or oil.  Join this fun and creative class.  Call Valentia at 951-659-0599.
